The swimming pool is one place children of all ages can enjoy, but not everyone is blessed with living somewhere that has access to a pool. So we decided to put together some of the most attractive hotspots that are great for kids to get wet and have some splashing fun!
Hard Rock Hotel Penang
The Hard Rock brand has always been synonymous with a good time. It has one of the largest free-form swimming pool you can find up north which makes it the ideal pool for kids. It even has twisty slides and water guns – the two things that will keep them occupied for hours. Parents can reserve a private cabana near the pool to keep an eye on the kids but still have the chance to relax. The hotel even hosts a foam party at the pool on the first Saturday of the month with the kids’ session being held from 5pm to 7pm.
The Haven Resort Hotel & Residences
For a great weekend getaway, The Haven Resort Hotel & Residences in Ipoh has a seahorse-shaped pool surrounded by artificial rocky cliffs to blend into the natural surroundings. The pool comprises five distinct levels including a lap pool, leisure pool and a kids’ wading pool with a waterslide. The pool area is also stroller-friendly, which is very convinient when there are babies and toddlers involved. What really sets this pool apart is the fact that it overlooks a natural lake and an amazing 200-million-year-old limestone formation! Great for photo taking too!
Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa
Located about six kilometres from Kota Kinabalu on Tanjung Aru Beach, Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa has a lovely beach and pool designed to entice everyone from jaded parents and uninterested teenagers to active little ones. There is also a fantastic water-play area complete with water battle stations, balloon launchers, water slides and a huge tipping buckets kids just love standing under. In a separate area, the hotel also has an infinity pool and Jacuzzi where parents can spend a quiet moment before heading to the poolside bar for a well-deserved treat.
There’s no way the list would be complete without mentioning a few water parks! First up is Sunway Lagoon. Whether it’s relaxing in the wave pool or something more adventurous like the heart-stopping Vuvuzela, they have something for everyone in the family. Little ones can also go wild at the interactive water playground- Little Zimbabwe- for endless of fun complete with water guns and slides.
Legoland Water Park
Be ready for an “aqua-tastic” and splashing wet fun at the Water Park. Ride the surf at the LEGO® wave pool, float along the Build-A-Raft lazy river, climb and slide down the most awesome tube and body slides. Kids can also unleash their imagination and creativity in an awesome boat building game and race it down rapids to see who will emerge the top captain.
Lost World of Tambun
If Ipoh is on your list of destinations to visit, expect more than historical buildings and delicious food when you’re there. The theme park here has a Jungle Wave Pool, an Adventure River to drift peacefully in, Sandy Bay which has the perfect beach atmosphere, and a few other cool rides. Their Kids Explorabay has kid-sized slides and a large, wet, interactive play area with giant tipping buckets, water cannons, spraying elephants, water curtains and fountains. Top this off with a pirate ship ride and your little pirates will be back for more!
Bukit Gambang Water Park
Bukit Gambang offers 45.8 acres of fun with a breezy tropical ambience and some awesome water attractions. Children can play till their heart content within the children centric “Penguin Island”, families can take a ride on the longest “Family Raft” ride in Malaysia, or float through the longest and most turbulent “Lazy River”. There’s something for everyone to enjoy and a great place for children of all ages.
Borneo Samariang Water Park
Sarawakians can beat the heat at Borneo Samariang Water Park, a world class water park that just opened its doors March last year. Located in Kuching, this resort is said to be a replica of Bukit Gambang’s, as conceived by Sentoria Group Berhad. It is built on a 30 acre area in Samariang with four major sections, namely the Water Park Entrance, the Hornbill Island, the Salak Beach, and the Santubong Tower.
You don’t always have to spend a fortune to have some good ol’ splashing fun in the sun. KLCC Park is also a great place for families with 2-acre children’s playground and kiddie’s wading pool. There is also a waterfall at the back of the wading pool for visitors as well as a 1.3km-long jogging track and an impressive man-made Lake Symphony.
